where: Napoli, Piazza Duca degli Abruzzi
The first work, designed as an alternative to a previous neoclassical project by Genio Civile. The building has a wide market hall covered by a barrel vault made of steel trussed arches and by the individual surrounded rooms of the mandatories, each one with his own way of selling. The high vertical butts and the large longitudinal abat-vents are made of Saint Gobain glass block work, one of the first exemples in South-Italy. At the lower level, cells and ware houses create the space for retailing. The entrance for the people is from the Northern stairway, the ramps for cars and trucks: from the oppposite front and the Western side.
